Basjoo cut down to ground level :(

Hi. My basjoo has been cut right down to ground level after experiencing round one of the arctic cold snap, which has seen -10c in my area but on higher ground has seen 17c-19c. This winter is turning out to be a bad one. I did protect my basjoo's with straw and fleece but it proved to be useless against temps like that, The ice had split the p-stem right the way through. Hopefully it will sprout from the root stock in the spring. WE WILL SEE!

Alittle off topic, but those cordylines seem very hardy. Do you grow windmill palms in your area also?
