Looks pretty neat. I'd have a hard time doing that with the clay and rocks in my soil.

How do you plan to water the plants over the winter months?

The open section is a door to water through in the closed shelter there won't be much evaporation so shouldnt need much water

It would be interesting to rig up some way to record inside and outside temps through the winter. Any plans along those lines?

Fascinating concept. I've heard that normal pit greenhouses which stay at 50-55F, requires around 4 feet of digging. But to make this shallower, then balance it off with heat sinks makes things far more interesting. That also allows light to reach the entirety of the plant which most ignore, and keeps the top of the structure close to the ground, reducing heat loss through wind chill. Definitely looking forward to seeing how it works for you through the winter.

I replied on on my phone but didnot seem to work so i will use a real computer this time
it worked very well i had 1 veinte cohol in the ground in the center then i ended up with a bunch of fall pups just before frost and no were to store them so i just potted them and placed them in the hole around the viente cohol heres the results
the vc stayed green and healthy until febuary then started turning yellow and dieing
mainly from a combnation of cool temps and way to much moisture due to ground water
running in there was no frost damage though a drain has since been installed
4 velutina plants survived with no problems and grew all winter and are bearing fruit outside now
two blue java pups lived all winter and even grew some and are now outside and growing well
2 orinico pups also lived and stayed green all winter

all with no heat all and night time temps diping into the low teens and 2 nights of 9 degree temps
no watering was need all winter
my intent is to have 1 plant in each hole then remove the top and let it bloom and fruit
i plan on a dwarf namaw and to try another vc i like how fast they grow but they seem fragile and do not like cool temps
I am in the process of digging another one
