Banana leaf hardiness
We often talk about ultimate corm and pseudo trunk hardiness but seldom do we get scientific with leaf temperatures. I'm curious to hear other people's results regarding hardy bananas. My basjoos begin modest spotting at 28 with a light frost. None of my other varieties are leaf hardy much past 31-32, except my raja puri, which is closer to 29.5 or 30. How do the different sikkimensis and basjoo varieties stack up?

Re: Banana leaf hardiness
Well, I was hoping to determine the same thing. We've gone from a few dips to the low 30's to a couple of nights of upper 20's that did leaf damage to only the most exposed and cold sensative plants. At 7:30 this morning it was 20 degrees even though the prediction was for a low of 26! Supposed to be even colder in a few days. Now it looks like I'll be determining the pstem hardiness. It will be an interesting spring.
