![]() They are Mexican Shell flowers 'Tigridia'. This is the first year I have planted them.
Pros beautiful flowers and palm like foliage. Supposed to be hardy for my zone. Cons blooms only last one day. I found a bag of the bulbs at Costco in the spring and decided that for $8 for 50 I would give them a try. |

![]() Yes it is, been in the ground for 10 years now started as a one gallon discount plant from Home Depot. Its really not that big 30" or so of trunk and 5'- 6" overall but it s coming. It has put on about 6" of trunk this year and has pushed nine new fronds, last year it only had two and no real growth in the trunk.

![]() This is my first year with as well, I started with three varieties. Two have buds forming and the other was covered in some sort of mess when I came home from a weekend away. It looked like a really dense spider web but what ever it was had made a meal out of the leaves. I had to strip all the leaves off of that one and it seems to be recovering but I am sure it has been set back quite a bit compared to the other two.

![]() Yeah everything loves to eat brugmansia. Go out there at night and look under the leaves.
When I first got mine something was chewing the leaves up never found a caterpillar but I did catch 2 small slugs and used to see white flys and stink bugs. I usually leave what ever little spiders I see on there hoping they will help me with the battle. If you haven't ever smelled a brug before they are quite wonderful. I wished they smelled during the day also. You could use a systemic on it but i try to avoid it because it has the chance to hurt honey bees.
