Thai banana (kluai nam-wah) and manzano banana?

Hi -

I found an Asian fruit store which sells Thai banana and they told me that the bananas came from Mexico farm. I wonder whether Thai banana and manzano banana are the same type banana. I have found some internet articles but I could not tell their differences.

Thanks for your information.

Thanks,
Tuan

They shouldn't be. I haven't had manzano, aka Apple, but if it is anything like dwarf Brazillian (which we call Apple in Hawaii), namwah is quite different in taste, texture, and plant appearance. The namwahs I've seen have a thick pseudo stem and the fruit was also chunkier, with a more creamy, cantaloupe-like smell and taste.

You are correct. I grow both and can tell you they are quite different.
