Default FL Newbie, looking to buy some fruit if possible!

So I'm a total newbie, all I've had are the standard grocery store variety, and would LOVE to get my hands on some different bananas. Heck, if someone could help me out and suggest growers in FL who wouldn't mind a visit, I'd be eternally grateful.

I live in the Tampa area, but would absolutely be willing to make a trip out of visiting someone who could help me live my dream of trying some new interesting bananas (Or especially the ol' Gros Michel!) I'd be willing to pay for the privilege for sure.

I think it would be great for those who can grow just about any variety to make the fruit available to us that never even get the chance to see, much less taste the beauties that are possible. I surly am willing to pay any shipping costs. This is an ongoing offer, I would love to try any that i can't grow in zone 6. please pm me if you are willing to take the time any time.
thanks scottu

When I get regular harvests I would ship some to newbies up north. That will likely be a while yet, though. I do wish more members were into that. $25 for a couple well packed hands in a one price box which cost $14 and change seems fair enough. 2-3 bucks a lb for the fruit is a good price. I bet someone could do well by many members that way and at least pay for their fertilizer... Someone with a few acres of favorite varieties may even turn a profit. It certainly seems there is a market for rare and unusual bananas...

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

Where else is a northern banana nut ever going to know what his full potential is!

For those of us in Florida it would allow us to taste bananas before deciding what to plant. I have 12 varieties, half of which I have never tasted and one I already know I do not care for, but had planted before getting to taste.
