People can be so lame. What is someone going to do with a bunch of nowhere near ripe bananas? I've had people walk into my yard and pull off unripe fingers and throw them on the sidewalk. WTF mate?! Hasn't happened for a while, knock on wood.

The verdict is in: it's another Namwah. I've been eating some for a couple weeks now from the first bunch produced on a plant I got from Tony 2.5 years ago. It doesn't seem quite as sweet as most of the Namwah varieties in my yard, but it definitely is one. It has the same apple-cider aroma and thin peel as the all the other "Namwah" (Pisang Awak) varieties. Nice flavor and texture and good size fruit. I'll post some photos later. It's a sturdy plant that requires no propping and handles cool well.

My best guess is that it is what is called Misi Luki in the continental US. The guy Sunfish got this plant from originally called it Mona Lisa, but notice the similarity in the names: two four letter, two syllable words, the first one starting with an M and the second with an L. I think he or someone before him mixed up the two names. Mystery solved? Maybe. Whatever, it's a good plant.

Here are some photos of this one. It's a winner. Big fruit, good flavor, tough plant, what more do you want?

Mark, so many things you post I have found myself thinking the same thing. My "Misi Luki" Namwah, that I got in Hawaii that I got fruit off of last summer 6 weeks after my Tall Namwah, was not only a shorter plant, but still taller than Dwarf Namwah. It was good, but somehow just wasn't quite as good, and it may be it wasn't as sweet. I have my first Dwarf Namwah flowering now so will be interesting to see how that compares, at least to my memory of the other two.

A few more photos of this variety. Oh wait, I live in a climate where I shouldn't bother growing bananas. I guess these shouldn't exist!

Well, I didn't intend it, but I think the last ones in my hand look bigger than they actually were just because of the way I took the photo. That said, they are as big as I've seen for Namwah, those three being 185-210 grams (6.5-7.5 ounces) and heavier than the average Cavendish at the supermarket. But it's not just this variety of Namwah: the bunch of "Ice Cream" Namwah I just harvested had fruit as large as 220 grams. I didn't do anything special. Namwah just seems to like my climate.

On the other end of the spectrum, you should see the Cavendish bunch I've been harvesting. Cutest little Cavendishes you've ever seen. Biggest ones are the size of a baby banana, 90-100 grams. They do not like my climate!

Here you go. The two smallest fingers are from the Cavendish, then there is one from the plant in this thread and then a store-bought Cavendish for comparison. The bigger of the two home-grown Cavendish fingers was the biggest on the bunch.
