![]() I posted on the main forum to ask when I can plant my basjoos outside...appears they may be a dwarf cavendish. I have had them 5 weeks and have grown great. The more they grew and more pics ive seen of basjoos...I was questioning what I have? Being in zone 7...I doubt I can overwinter them outside like I was planning on with my basjoos and Cal golds. I do have two cal golds from Green Earth coming and am going to order two basjoos from there as well. I paid 10 shippedfor each of these...now I am not sure how to care for them come winter? For some reason I can not post oics...both plants are in my gallery...any ideas? Are they even the same spcies? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!

If theae are not hardy come winter....which research idicates they are not...I am going to convert a spare bedroom into a plant room w additional lights during winter. Thanks.

![]() A great rule of the thumb is, "whenever it is safe to plant tomatoes outside without
protection in your area". Tomatoes, because of their thinner leaves are more vulnerable to frost than bananas, but more easily protected by placing a hood over them, when low temperatures threaten. Bananas on the other hand can take a bit of frost damage and carry right on, because their relatively thick PS takes some time before it gets damaged. Consult your garden shop concerning safe planting time for tomatoes. ![]() Good luck, Olaf

![]() That appears to be the verdict...and from looking at other pics...but yet being a total newb..thats what I think as well. I cant winterize these in my zone 7a..but I do have a spare bedroom..with sunblaze T5 fixtures...so...hopefully I can keep them alive when winter approaches? Anyone keep these inside? Thanks.

![]() Attachment 2654Hey goin bananas. Yes...these are the same two. They use to have a lot of red..then just vanished. My basjoo had a lot of red..its almost all green now. By dwarf orinicos and williams still have plenty of red. As you can see in pic..ita super green w zero red now. Bein a newb..i wonder The same thing. Seems many varities have red....then they get bigger and lose the red. Maybe a more experienced member can chime in...as I have been wondering too.
