Unknown variety needs ID

So I am back at the home of the the original unknown red banana, and there was a another plant that had a bunch ready to harvest, so I will be harvesting it :08: but I have NO idea what variety it is. I think maybe some Fhia cultivar but need guidance. Here are the pics. Let me know if you need other views of the plant.

Thanks for looking! Gabe, I need you! :nanadrink:

Im a little stumped actually, it has a rather unusual bunch appearance, very few but very large fruits. At first I was thinking Cavendish upon seeing the fruit, but the bud is not right. It could potentially be a Goldfinger (FHIA-01) off-type, there are many and they vary considerably.

Wow some huge fingers! It reminds me a lot of my Musa Pisang raja. But never seen fingers anything like that. And i thought everything was bigger here in Texas? Lol

My first thought was also goldfinger, but since my experience is somewhat limited, I wanted to see what the more experienced folks had to say.

Well, whatever it is I am not that impressed. Taste is similar to a store bough banana. I will be letting the remaining bananas get brownish before I taste them again.

Re: Unknown variety needs ID

Following year there is another bunch ready, or ready enough, for harvest. Unusual change, the rachis isn’t messy anymore..... very heart shaped flower. We’ll see how many bracks lift at a time. Very black petioles on young pups, more so than last year. Mat will be dug up and nice sword sucker transplanted to another location about fifteen feet away. If will be planted with plenty of good stuff. It should have another bunch next year this time. :woohoonaner:

This one has a very thick trunk, and threw the bunch at maybe 9 feet.

Any insight is welcome! :nanadrink:

Bump for great documentation. Did you ever get a positive ID? It looks like my understanding of the real deal FHIA-1 GF.
