Re: unknown banana ID please
It very well could be that, but I'd expect to see more blue on the fruit. The color of the bud is consistent with Blue Java though, and it does look like its from the ABB group. If not Blue Java, I might say something along the lines of Saba.

Re: unknown banana ID please
Doesn't look anything like the Ice Creams I have. I'm not home where I can just go look and compare but something is just not right in the shape, color, and hand spacing. They almost look like unfused praying hands, which are a Saba type, so I'd guess a Saba type too. But that's all just based on my impression from pictures since I don't grow Saba except for a Praying Hands which hasn't fruited yet.

Re: unknown banana ID please
The pedicels ("fruit stems") are too short for Blue Java.

Re: unknown banana ID please
The plant is growing in Hollywood Florida. The fruit is angular and has the silvery blue color, not bright green The plant was around 10-15 feet tall

Re: unknown banana ID please
More than likely a Namwah, not an Ice Cream.

Re: unknown banana ID please
It's not a Namwah. They are never that square-sided. That's more of a Saba trait.

Re: unknown banana ID please
Sorry I meant Orinoco, but I gotta admit, I don't know if Orinoco are a Saba type?

Re: unknown banana ID please
No, both are ABB types, but Orinoco is a Bluggoe subgroup banana. To me the fingers look too uniform in shape and spacing to be Orinoco.
