From a trash pile!

Downtown Charleston has a lot of intimate courtyards that occasionally are exempt from hard freezes. Often banana plants make it through the winter without losing any leaves.

This banana was found on a trash pile by a friend and replanted. It now has this fruit. It seems different from orinocos that are common. I told him about cutting off the male bud, but he may have done it too close. Any ideas on what this might be?

Still looks like Orinoco to me. Just that some fruits did not fill out properly. The filled out fruits, though, looks very Orinoco.

Maybe it's a new type of plant that we're not used to. Let's call it Charleston Silver.

Yea, Looks very Orinoco to me. See the four sides to the fruit. Quadrano's. Odd that the flag seems to be all green though. Maybe it's just the pic.

I agree that it looks somewhat like Orinoco, but it has some characteristics of Tuu Ghia. I have never seen the mature fruit of Tuu Ghia, therefore I don't know if it gets this large.
Some of the smaller fingers have an recurved shape it appears.
