Smile Are these bananas Muso Basjo?

I am trying to find out if these banana plants are all Musa Basjoo. The are all supposed to be Musa Basjoo.

The left chair has 2 banana plants that do not look like the 4 in the right chair. this made me think the 2 in the left chair were not Musa Basjoo and perhaps some other kind of Banana. What do you think these banana plants are?

This is one view of the 2 from the left chair after a few days planted.

This is the other side view of the 2 from the left chair after a few days planted.

This is a picture of 2 from the right chair that I think are Musa Basjoo after a few days planted.

thank you Markbananas

To me the 2 on the left look like musa basjoo. The ones on the right look more cavendish. I'm not an expert and that's just my best guess.

Do you mean Dwarf Cavendish? I have the experts at the Palm Beach County Extension department in Flordia looking in to this. They have a state tropical fruit expert. If your right and they are Cavendish that is a problem.

Thanks for your help.

The ones on the left are exactly like mine which I'm pretty sure is basjoo. Has winged closed petioles and the yellowish green color.

Ones on the right look different to me. New pictures look more like basjoo but so hard to tell without close up pictures of the petioles. You may have to wait for some leaf growth.

Good news is basjoo is super easy to identify. They look totally different than all my other plants. Mostly the color and winged closed petioles.

I'll try to get some pics of mine later.

I have some leaf growth on the 2 banana plants from the chair on the left and will have more as they grow. But if they are not genuine I have some time constraints as if they are not genuine I will have to return them on Ebay. Thanks for the info on the winged closed petioles. I am looking it to that. Thanks

They are all M. basjoo, definitely no Cavendish. The colors can vary slightly with age and conditions.

M. basjoo petioles are winged but open, not closed, and often spreading widely even.

Here are mine. Again this is why gabe is the expert and not me.

Musa basjoo - more closed.

Musa gran Nain - more open.

That's what I was talking about. Guess it's not totally closed but way less open than most I have. I'm pretty sure I have a basjoo and I have never seen any red on one. Learn something everyday.

Thanks gabe.
Just trying to learn. There is no doubt in my mind you are correct here.

Are there any other bananas that have this same type of petioles as you described that may look like the Musa Basjoo?

Musa Orinoco. It may be what I have instead of basjoo. I have for sure tall Orinoco and dwarf Orinoco. They look a lot different than my "basjoo". It should flower very soon no matter what it is and I will know for sure. It's my tallest banana at about 15'. Counting leaves it's 20+

Thanks for the info. I am still looking in to this. Some official tropical fruit experts in Florida have not been able to identify the banana plant yet & some of the experts with Texas A&M AgriLife have not been identified it yet. But they are now contacting experts across the United States to get this plant identified.

Thanks for the pictures and I will post more but giving them a little time to grow.

Trying to go bananas in a orderly fashion has been bananas but still trying.
