Pup?

My Basjoo has pupped many times over the past few years, but this is the first time one looked like this. Any problem?

Howard, it dosen't appear to have a problem to me, but I'm still a novice.

You might look like that too if you burrowed underground for a few weeks

That's pretty normal for Musa basjoo. Every once in a while, a pup will emerge with a reddish pseudostem. As it grows, it will start to look like the others. In my experience, those seem to be the most vigorous sword suckers too.
