looks like grand nain X sumatrana (aka Grand Nain Cross).
I've not seen it around although Don's catalogus has it (Going Bananas of Homestead). It looks much like Zebrina except for the green petioles (Zebrina are more pink). Is the under side of the leaf dark red? |

Hi Dmitry,
I have no advice to give you on your banana project. But, you have my utmost admiration. I assume that you're from St. Petersburg. I lived in Alaska for over 30 years at 61°N, about the same latitude as you. I grew orchids in my home for many years and dealt with the seasonal daylight changes, 19 hrs or sunlight in the summer and 19 hrs of dark in the winter. I never had the guts to try growing banana plants under those conditions even though I thought about it often. I hope it grows well for you and you get to eat some home grown bananas.
