![]() It looks like Dwarf Orinoco, which is a dual-purpose cooking and eating banana. It's not a true plantain, but can be used like one.

![]() Antonio, esos son "burros" (Orinoco enano)... es un guineo de cocción. Los guineos que uno se come crudos al madurar son guineos de postre. Estos se pueden comer crudos como los de postre cuando maduran, pero tambien se pueden cocinar como si fuesen platanos cuando verdes o maduros... como si fuese ambos, guineo y platano - pero el termino apropiado es "guineo de cocción". Ricos en tostones (textura mantequillosa, no secos como platanos normales). Esa planta es la version enana.
Tambien se dá bien en su zona 9 de Louisiana, pues es resistente al frio hasta zona 8 (7 sin fruto). Yo estoy en zona 6b y tengo uno, pero le doy protección. Last edited by JuniPerez : 10-25-2012 at 04:46 PM. |

![]() I agree; the bananas look "Orinoco-ish", & is my all-time favorite for making tostones.
One of the few that can be allowed to ripen on the plant without much danger of splitting, and like Juni says; they can be cooked either green or yellow. We'll eat 'em as a dessert 'naner when feeling too lazy to cook. ![]()
