As I understand, the Pacific Plantains are just a group of bananas and not a cultivar. So, any ideas on what cultivar this is: https://www.daleysfruit.com.au/Banan...aradisiaca.htm
I am thinking it could be Popoulu. |

"Pacific Plantains" in the general sense is a name occasionally used to refer to a number of AAB subgroups in the Pacific, notably the Maoli-Popo'ulu and Iholena subgroups, but it is not an official name for those bananas.
However, there is also a specific cultivar called 'Pacific Plantain' in some research collections. It is typically considered to be a proper Maoli-Popo'ulu subgroup member, but I suspect it is from a superficially similar but different genetic group in the Western Pacific, as evidenced by some unique traits shared with other similar cultivars which despite appearance have proved to be from a different genetic group. The first photo of the plant in that link, the one with the black coloration on the pseudostem, matches the 'Pacific Plantain' cultivar I referred to. The other photos show classic Plantain fruits, not the 'Pacific Plantain'. It's not uncommon that nurseries aren't sure exactly what they are selling, so buyer beware.
