Default Ornamental of just not flowering?

Dear Banana enthousiasts,

I have had a "banana" tree for about 7 years but it has never flowered..
It has been standing indoors near the window at about 19-20 degrees.

Can I change the way I treat my tree to make it flower?
Or is it an ornamental tree that has nothing to do with banana's?? (hope not..)

Kind regards, Hidde from The Netherlands

It looks to me to be a Super Dwarf Cavendish type or Truly Tiny. Which most will not flower for me! The TC versions anyway. I kept a few alive for 3 years and no flower. If you get lucky and get a pup off an older one closer to the Musa Novak you could get fruit! I haven't fruited any of my novaks yet but have high hopes. They are quite a bit taller though.

That's my experience with super dwarfs. Way better chance getting a flower or even fruit with a dwarf Orinoco or real Raja Puri. Good luck!

I think it just needs a bigger pot but too big and it gets heavy.

I would think the lack of real heat could also play a roll.

That's so much for the response guys!!
Reading a bit more about this type I think light can also still be an issue... Maybe I'll add a quicker flowering version and see if it will flower in the mean time.
Great to have a better idea of the type of banana it is.
Cheers

I have read from others that the truly tiny never fruits. or barely does.

I agree 100%.

I also believe most SDC TCs will not flower or fruit as well! Not good odds anyway. If you want an SDC that fruits! Get a pup off of someone who has fruited theirs.

I would agree that it can use a bigger pot. 20*c is a little to cold. In my opinion it would do better at 21/25. Good luck!
