Default Not a Cavendish . . . so what is it?

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]So my "Cavendish" has flowered and begun fruiting, and after a couple of looks, I've been assured it's NOT a Cavendish. Can anyone ID this banana for me? I had thought we would be eating these . . . maybe not.

Looks somewhat Maoli-Popoulu like. Where are you located? Keep posting photos and do not remove the male bud as it develops.

I'm in Katy, just west of Houston. Bought this at a big box store so I wasn't expecting anything exotic. It was marked "Cavendish," and since they're not rare, that seemed logical. Silly me, expecting a big box store to label a banana correctly!
