Does anyone know what these are?

I got 4 corms in the spring off Craigslist and potted them in pots. They've grown enormously, some over 6 feet tall, with lots of pups. One of them flowered.

I'd like to know what they are and if they might be cold hardy in zone 6.

If they aren't cold hardy, what's the best way to store them for the winter given I can't just bring the pots in - no room to do that.

I've attached pictures of the plants and the flower.

Hell. I don't know what they are however; if they were simply planted in the spring of this year and have flowered I'd like to know what soil mixture you've planted them and let me know if you find out what they are I wanna get me some of those:}:woohoonaner:

Snookie - they are all planted in straight compost (Black Gold) I bought in bulk from a local nursery. The one that bloomed has a corm that's at least 6 - 8 inches or more across.

Oddly enough, this one only gets a few hours a day of sun, and dappled at that. It's leaning toward the sun, but it's sitting under a tree. The one I had in full sun didn't do as well as the 4 in the shade.

I gave them lots of water and feed them with Special-Blend Fertilizer from Hidden Valley Hibiscus. I figured since this mix is for tropicals it would work for the bananas and appears to have done so. It's a 17-5-24

Looks like it could be some sort of Orinoco. They are cold hardy.
