It was sold to me over a year ago as "California Gold" by Green Earth Publishing. I like it a lot, but I just don't know what it is for sure yet.

In all probability it is a D. Orinoco. Green Earth advertises D. Orinoco as D. Orinoco, Texas Star, and California Gold. The latter two are suspected to be mutations of D. Orinoco. Selling D. Orinoco as the latter two makes them more desirable due to their reported colder tolerance. If you didn't order the Texas Star from Ty Ty Nursery, it is probably D. Orinoco. If you didn't order the California Gold from the California grower who discovered them, or from someone who bought the mother plant from him, it is probably D. Orinoco. California Gold is only traded/sold as sword suckers, not TC plantlets. I do not believe that the California grower sells TC plants of the CA Gold. Do not despair, D. Orinoco is also very cold tolerant. The only physical differences between the three are their fruiting heights. I had posted a photo of someone who grew the three side by side, showing the relative mature heights. Even then, they were within 3 or 4 inches of each other.
