New banana plant rapidly pupping

Hey Guys,

I found a banana plant from a friend's neighbor's house and planted it in the ground about 1 month ago. Since then, the main plant has not had a new leaf yet (seems to be emerging super slow).

However, I have about 6 new pups from this plant that are rapidly growing. I have not seen this rapid growth with any other type of banana that I have so far.

Anyone else seen this or may be able to identify this one? I'll try to take a picture of the neighbors friend's house of the mature plants. The plants in his yard are all tightly together in one huge mat.

The only thing likely to be sending out suckers that far away is Musa itinerans. A
photo of the larger plant will help ID. Strange though that your neighbors is a tight mat and yours is spreading, M. basjoo can sometimes be variable like this, could explain it. Is it possible your neighbors plant is in a confined space?

I just checked this morning, and there appear to be 6-7 pups from this one plant I planted a month ago--insane!

So the house it came from, they have a lot of bananas all together. The ground was hard when I used a shovel to get the one out that I got.

I was able to snap a couple of pictures of the mature ones. See below.

Wow. Those plants are really dense/packed together. Looks cool. Leaves seem to be pretty vertical.
