This plant was given to me and I didn't think of asking for the variety.

It is shorter than my Cavendish from Lowe's.
Small new leaves have red on them but later turn green as they get bigger.

The first fruit in 2020 rotted

but 7 months later had a great harvest.

This year it fruited

but the pseudostem broke where it was supported and bunch fell to the ground.

Here is a photo of the whole mat after fruiting to show the size and the leaves. The birdcage is two stories high so the size is better determined by the compost trash can close by:

Fruit from top row measures 8" on outside and 5.5" inside.

I hope that is enough for someone to identify this variety.

I hate to continue giving away my pups without knowing the variety, although so far know one has asked me about it.

It's 'Dwarf Cavendish'. There are lots of variants which are slightly different from one another, so you may notice some inconsistencies between sources of plants, but they are all pretty similar.

Thank you, that is an interesting answer. The fruit is so much longer than my regular cavendish which is taller and has more bananas in the bunch.
