![]() Can anyone tell me what's the name of this banana?
Previous leaves were plain green, but this new one has some red on it. Edges are white, or colorless if you wish. ![]() ![]() Anyway, what do you think, does it need a larger pot? Should I put it on direct sunlight, since leaves get a little bit strange and bended? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() No, I'm not gonna put it in the ground because in winter temperatures are around -10 to -20 C. Holding it in the container is the only option.

![]() beam is correct. It is hard to really tell at this point.
but from the height of the plant, thickness of the pstem, close spacing of the small leaves, size of the leaves, and wine stain; my guess is a DC (dwarf Cavendish) of some type. from where did you get it? DC's are hot sellers in the big box stores ($8 to $12). |

![]() yes the people with the experience and knowledge want to see the flower and the fruit. until that point they could make a lot of guesses.
went out and looked, my smaller dc and nains have white edges. the larger one have red. but your stem at this point looks [to me] to clean for dc. good luck hopefully you have a keeper and a producer. Last edited by beam2050 : 06-23-2017 at 09:27 AM. |

![]() Thanks. I got it as a gift. I also assumed that it is DC, but this red color confused me a little bit.
BTW, should it be placed on direct sunlight? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() After acclimating the plant to direct sunlight as Beam stated, I would place it where it would get morning sunlight and bright light (no direct sun) in the afternoon or filtered sunlight in the afternoon. I have several nana plants with afternoon shade, they are growing like crazy and do not show any heat stress. Your plant will do well in a 25 gal pot as a patio plant. If it is a dc, it be about 4 ft to 6 ft tall; SDC shorter.
