Nam Wa or Ta Nee

I bought two different Bananas from two different people several years ago. One was sold as Variegated Nam Wa while the other was sold as a Ta Nee. I have since lost track and mixed them up but I am now wondering if they are actually both Ta Nee. They both look identical except the second one has Shades of cream in addition to the green and white. The first one has an all green pup, while the second had a variegated pup that didn't grow but a couple inches over a year then died. Anyone know what I actually have here. Nam Wa or Ta Nee?

Tanee I'd say.. Namwah is going to have some pink, especially the pup, but it doesn't.. :^)

Thanks. I didn't think about the pink. I would think that a Nam Wa would have a thicker p-step and wider leaves as well. I guess a true white variegated Nam Wa is hard to come by, especially since a lot of people confuse them with Ta Nee. I'll try to grow the reverted green pup to fruiting since it is more vigorous.

Both Ta Nee, Pretty easy to tell. Correctly ID'd as Musa Balbisiana "Indonesian Ivory". Gets extremely large with BIG trunks and HUGE suckers, produces seeded fruit.
Nam wah is thought to be a descendant of the Cavendish group, so it will have wider leaves with shorter petioles and a thicker trunk, probably the sweetest dessert type fruit you'll taste-(no seed). The pink coloration will only appear if grown in full sun and then only very slightly along the upper 'wings' of the petioles. You will see more pink coloration on young M."Florida" pseudostem and petioles.

My plant sold as thai variegated namwah. Is that correct or is it tanee?

Not true. Namwah is an ABB variety (Pisang Awak subgroup); Cavendish is an AAA variety (Cavendish subgroup).
