Musa sp nov (Big Flower), little one and odd one
 

On the left are two Musa sp. Nov (Big Flower), and a M. ornata royal purple(seed grown).
The weird thing is all the other Musa sp. nov have been exactly like the one in the middle, lance shape leaves, with no red on the mid rib. The large one on the left looked different from the begining. It has wider leaves, with a noticable red mid rid.
Maybe a Musa yunnaninsis seed got mixed into the bag, or maybe it's something that was harvested in the same area as M.sp nov. At any rate I really dig it, and plan on testing it's cold hardiness as soon as I have a backup pup.
Any thoughts? Does it look like anyones M.yunnanensis or is too hard to tell at that size. It has so far not been outside even last summer.

can you get a close up of the pseudostem at the petiole junctions of the one on the left? also, is there any wax present?

It doesn't have any wax at all.
I have 35mm film so it has to get developed onto disk, but I'll take some pics of the petiole(close ups if needed). I do have a couple more pics on this recent disk, but I'm not sure if they will help. I'll upload them, as soon as I have a chance.

Heres the best pic of the petiole of the pics.
It is the top left one, and the other Musa sp. Nov is below it. Then the top right is Musa cheesemanii, and below it is M.nagaesium. I'm thinking that M.nagesium and M.cheesemanii are really closely related, and could turn out to be the same, or at least subspecies.

It does look indeed like that one could be Musa yunnanensis, it looks somewhat similar at this stage to mine. Musa sp. nov 'Big Flower' is (as of right now) Musa xishuangbannaensis, same as Musa itinerans var. gigantea. Musa cheesmani and Musa nagensium are curious to me, I dont know a lot about Musa nagensium but it appears to me as though there has been a mix up along the way. I have seen some pictures that look the same and some that are completly different. It seems a lot of plants get mixed up like this. Plus if you notice there are some companies offering a variety of different supposed Musa nagensium types. I definetly need to look into this matter more deeply.

The naming is getting crazy. It sounds like there are a few different M.initerans. The big flower one from seed looks alot different than the TC'd one(From agri-starts). The TC'd ones have alot more of a soft beautiful dark leaf, and the one from seed(Musa sp nov(big flower)) has a stiffer paler green, and highly ribbed leaf, more like basjoo. I'm looking forward to a flower!:rolleyes:

Please let me know when you're ready to part out or sell a Musa sp nov. (big flower) plant. Looking to get one myself.
