Check out this link to a thread on the forum.
Read the whole thread.
It pretty well sums the plant up.
Also do another forum search keyword Mekong Giant there are a few more threads to read.

A few forum members grow the plant and they love it.

Are you thinking about growing this plant in your zone?

Yes, I have a pup and weather is in 70's now. Going to let it grow in container another week then put it in the ground.

Awesome ,
Your going to love the plant.
The plant grows just like a Basjoo.
The plant is a runner so leave it some room to roam.

Giant is a relative term, what ht. do these trees usually get in normal garden scene?

You should have a more robust growing season than I
Mine will die back to -3 inches each year and regrow.
Treat the plant like a basjoo.

Expect a plant in a few seasons with an 8 foot p-stem and 12 foot leaves for a total of 20 ft in 2-3 years in your well amended sandy soil.

Feed it regular garden type fertilizer( I use 19-19-19) or lower or what you budget allows.
If the plant is small use a miracle grow type fertilizer till established

Once actively growing the plant is a beast and will spread in all directions with runners.

The plant is not giant by any means there are taller thicker ones such as Saba which I can't grow.
Here is my Flickr link to some basjoo in zone 6... your plants will look like this in a few years.

Hey thanks,

Remember to plant your soon to be beast in the best soil and hole you can put together. Your efforts will pay off many times over.
Let the forum know of your progress.
