Default This may be more challenging 😁

This is a rarer one in perth, less than a half dozen people may have it. Im not sure of its origins, may be Thai. Since the other three were plain janes I am keen to see what everyones thoughts are on this.

I have been given a name, and phonetically the closest i could match is *Kluai Lep Mu Nang* which on the pro musa site it appears to resemble. Anyone grown it or able to give an opinion on the match?

I don’t think they are Dwarf Cavendish. I was looking at some pictures maybe Tuu Gia. The shape of the Banana’s look kind of the same. Maybe it’s some kind of Pome or maybe a SuperPlantain.

They are not 'Kluai Lep Mu Nang' (or 'Tuu Gia', or any Pome or Plantain), the plant you show is pretty clearly a triploid, 'Lep mu Nang' is a diploid and has a very slender stature, in addition to other differences.

I would believe the cold affected 'Dwarf Cavendish' theory, that's what I was leaning towards before I saw your comment. It's a bit hard to tell from the photos if the classic Cavendish traits are there, if you peel back the outer pseudostem layers is the underlying color rather pink/red?

Will check it out, after work, the only thing that makes me not completely believe this is there are cavendish growing nearby and they dont grow like this. Also the fruit tastes totally different to the cavs apparently.

What are the differences you see? What does “don’t grow like this” mean?

The other ones fruit is just like a store bought cavendish in appearance and taste. I wouldnt have thought that there would be alot of variation. But Im growing one in a bag next to my williams, so I will take a pic tonight. Could it be an off type?

Unknown pups, no winestains, pink border on leaf, reminds me of the leaf edges of my goldfinger and dwarf ducasse pups

Wow the bracts look awesome! The colors of the plant and pups remind me of my Chinese cavendish (whatever it is) lol.

The bottom picture! Very cool! It’s not a cavendish or AAA. Could be ABB of some similar type. I’m interested to see what the male bud ends up doing. Make sure you let it do it’s thing! I grow Lep Mue Nang and it’s for sure not that.

The stature of the "canarvon" matches my dwarf ducasse, but the bunches are different.
