Leaf color of Dwarf Brazilian
Hello Everyone. I am in Oakland Ca and new to this forum. I have been helping a non profit nursery that hires people coming home from prison grow their banana collection.
I microsetted a potted banana labeled Brazilian Dwarf and all the shoots coming from the corm have red on the leaves, but I read that Brazilian Dwarf has all green leaf. I m wondering if this plant was mislabeled or got mixed up with a close by dward cavendish. Can anyone tell me what the leaf coloring of dwarf brazilian banana plants when they are young? Thanks max |
Re: Leaf color of Dwarf Brazilian
Very cool!
Dwarf Brazilians can have a very thin strip of pink around the rim of the leaf blade that continues upward from the petiole margins. Even when they're very young, though, they don't get "wine stain" blotches on the leaves like other varieties. If this is what you're referring to it's very likely some Cavendish type, especially if the plant originally came from a nursery. |
