Re: Lady Finger or Cavendish?
I planted a few rhizomes in pots and this came up that i don't recognize. I have Blue Java which this isn't one, cavendish and what i have always thought were Lady Finger. This looks different to all the other pups.

Re: Lady Finger or Cavendish?
There's no specific "ladyfinger"/"Lady Finger" cultivar; plants from the Sucrier and Mysore subgroups have been referred to by that name, and Pome subgroup cultivars are also called ladyfingers in Australia.
Those "wine stains" on the tops of the leaves do narrow it down somewhat. Not every variety has them on young leaves. Cavendish and Mysore cultivars are a couple that can exhibit the stains (but not always), but plenty of other varieties have them. If you take a picture of the petiole margins (the flaps on the leaf stalks), that might narrow down the possible identity. But it's still a guessing game until the flower pops out. |
