Re: identificar plataneras (id banana tree)
Hi Erlend
North-mediterranean coast are in the limit of the edible banana cultivation area (of course non commercial ¡¡) but you can find some few. I live 20 Km from the coast, and until now, all the edible varieties I tried died during a winter. I take this picture today in Barcelona city and you can see a bunch of bananas of one of the edible unknown "spanish" cultivars, and a flower of M. basjoo with a tiny banana bunch. This is the single basjoo flower in this area (and probably in all Barcelona city) surrounded by some M. “paradisiaca” flowers. Because the male and female flower of a bunch open at different time, there is a possibility to have a hybrid of both. That means a possible "new edible cold-hardy" variety I will keep all of you informed Last edited by barna : 07-01-2007 at 03:25 PM. Reason: picture link changed |

Re: identificar plataneras (id banana tree)
@barna
I hope that the basjoo will cross with the fruit banana. It is very interesting to get one hardy fruit banana for Germany. I hope that the fruit banana is diploid, so that the cross will work. Let me know if the cross is successfull, perhaps also seed for me. Or some plants, it's not a problem by the EU, to send plants to Germany. Best wishes Joachim |

Re: identificar plataneras (id banana tree)
hola!!

Re: identificar plataneras (id banana tree)
Hallo Achim
Ich kann auch ein bischen Deutsch sprechen, wir haben uns in ein anderes deutschsprachiges Forum getroffen. I also hope the fruit banana is a diploid one, We will have to wait but if I finnally can get some seed I will send you some (and of course any other member of this forum interested on it). Hola Ramon, Tal vez puedas probar con semillas son relativamente baratas y faciles de conseguir a traves de internet. En el foro hay una fantastica lista de proveedores. |
