How to ID and get them edible
 

Greetings,
I recently purchased a home in Central Fl and was thrilled to tsee it had a clump of banana trees. In Mid March one began to flower and about 4 hands formed. The bananas were real tiny, about 4 to 5 inches and never plumped up or anything. I waited for them to look more nana like but they shriveled up instead.
So now I have a second flower shooting out and I am hoping to find out what I have and what I need to do to get some edible fruit from them.

I have posted picts in my gallery. The trees are about 10 to 15 feet tall when they flower.

Depending on what kind of plant you have, you may or may not get edible fruit from it, as not all banana plants will produce edibles.
I'd suggest (just off the top of my head without knowing anything else about your situation) to hit your plants with some good fertilizer high in potassium; that's the single most important & commonly needed nutrient that many folks would wind up being in need of.
For best results, have your soil tested (check with your local county agricultural agent or horticultural department at a local university, if you have one) and have them make a more precise recommendation as to what the "ideal" fertilizer blend would be at the current & future growing stages.
They need different %s of N, P, & K at different growth stages (or to a lesser extent, times of the year).

... after looking at your pics, the pic of the clump/mat looks like it could make use of some serious compost application. Maybe someone that's more familiar than I am with nutrient mischief (or plant ID) can tell you more from the pics of the bananas themselves:

So I have uploaded a few more pictures.
It looks like they may be seeded. Does this mean they are inedible and for decoration only?
Any further ideas on the variety
Anyone on South Fl want to trade for an edible variety?
