I just want to make sure I'm giving it the correct conditions.

I think maybe Helen's? or Darjeeling?

It has clear water-like sap

Great looking little plant .....where are you growing(what zone) it and where did you purchase it.
Growing conditions are totally tropical.

if you can provide tropical conditions with lots of natural bright sunlight year round the plant should be fine.

I purchased the plant at a great little local plant shop, though the owner wasn't sure what specific kind this was.

In terms of agricultural zone, I'm in a 3b area - though this little banana is staying inside near a south facing window. I had read some concerns (I have been trying to find this specific type of banana for the past two days haha) that any banana with some red coloration shouldn't go in direct sunlight.
Your plant will likely loose the coloration as it matures.
Many plants have the same coloration when young.
There is a good chance your plant is a Cavendish variety.
All plants mentioned require tropical conditions and will grow best in full sunlight once acclimated.
So you may leave them out in the summer and bring them indoors in the fall.

If this one does not work out you may try some great reddish/purple ornamentals like Musa Siam Ruby, Zebrina or Sumatrana.
