They are supposed to be manzano bananas. We will see in a few months.

I actually started another thread about this tree when I didn't see responses here..

Manzano banana tree?

checked mine today and i have a little over 8' of p stem. the leaves are growing past a service line thats near it.the base has grown a little more (25" as of today). i have got several fast growing pups that are about the size of a mans forearm as fast as i could remove em. i have em all rooted. i will expect to see fruit probably next year(from the tall one).

hey mario jefrey pointed out that your flower looked like saba (worldwide plants). it looked that way to me too. i dont know about your fruit judging by the pics at this stage.. the saba is supposed to have tightly packed fruit i think.. also saba is supposed to have a few seeds right?? ive seen people selling saba seeds online.

what do the fruits look like lately??

im starting with the pups this is the base of the follower pup.this is as big as any other fruiting size banana i have. this is a pup. remember these pups have a pinkish midrib and a waxy underleaf.then they turn almost solid green and the powder disappears at maturity and the trunk is almost golden with pinkish hue.

this is the top portion of the follower pup.

here are pics of the base of the waxy unknown as an adult...the trunk turns almost golden.

just finished cleaning the base free of dead leaf sheaths

this is a pic showing the measurement midways up the stalk..i suppose this thing is gonna put out a massive head of bananas one day?? it seem to be designed that way huh? .
its maybe a common variety from south of the border? i dont think the old guy sold me anything too rare. i was looking at a handful of possible matches.all from south of the border.

i think the powder wax banana has finally decided to flag. i deleted a lot of my pics so i thought it was necessary to deleted some of my posts where i was referring to the pics. here is a few pics to show the history on this plant.... so far it has never put out water suckers only swords .. the pups are always fire red from surface then they turned pink then they go mostly olive green and have white powder on the p stem and petiole..

/showphoto.php?photo=32202>

here is the flag leaf.. i think i may have confirmed it because it pushed up a little more and now i can see that its a flag leaf...

i guess i will have to change the name i gave it soon.. if this is a known cultivar then..this strand has really vigorous growth. anyways will know something soon.

the flower looks kinda blue in color and is slender, and long. it looks similar to a bluggoe type banana. the total height of the p- stem is 8 feet tall from ground to bract. want to look at the fruits before i say anything else

bump...

ok i see female flowers now.as you can see the leaves dont look like rajapuri but the female flowers sure do.the female flowers are bright pink and have a little yellow. i didnt see any wide leaves or any red splotches..the leaves look like orinoco
another feature maybe a helpful key to identification is the red streak on the fruit..some of you may have seen red streaks on the fruit of your harvest...i didn't see it on my dwarf Orinoco they are on all the fingers.. in a short while maybe they will fade?? one more thing i found strange is the texture of the female flowers. they feel like plastic and they are not dripping with nectar.they are clean and are kinda on the dry side...no they are not withering either..yep the female flowers are lasting even is this hot weather...
here is a wide shot of the whole terminal bud and the flowers. update..this is Orinoco..only with a high amount of red in pups and on the new fruit...the terminal bud bract fell finally..they were not truly persistent. the female flowers were set on staying.. finally started producing nectar and they had to be removed manually to prevent rot.
