Default Goldfinger?

I had a Goldfinger from going-bananas.com but tried to move it in the summer heat last year and it died. (Go figure!) Anyway, after that I looked for a replacement and bought what was supposed to be Goldfinger from Houston Garden Centers in Houston, TX. HGC has a pretty bad rep and since I heard that many so-called Goldfingers are actually something else, I'm wondering what I really have. Is there a consensus as to what many "Goldfingers" really are?

Honestly.... who knows. Until she fruits; people sell so many mislabeled plants it's
Ridiculous....

On another note, I bought a goldfinger from Going bananas along with several other bananas.
And so far goldfinger is having a very hard time dealing with the heat.
The others are 3-4 new leaves out in the couple weeks since I bought them, but goldfinger
Is doing nothing but yellowing.
It just dose not seem to take stress well.

This is Going Bananas photo of their Goldfinger.

Below is the only U.S. mainland photo I've seen on the org that looks accurate.

Can't help with the banana, but isn't that a fig tree next to it?

Looks exactly like my goldfingers. Mine were TC plants from agristarts. They grow fast and great for me. They appear to be different than the USDA Tars Goldfinger but still do great for me so far.

It doesn't look like it's absolutely not 'Goldfinger', it could be, looks
within the ballpark, but as mentioned in order to fully ID it will need to fruit.

Yes, and that is unidentified too! It was supposed to be a Celeste, but clearly isn't. It seems to be an everbearing and makes yellowish-green figs.

Be glad you didn't get a Celeste. What was your source? Texas is known for Kadotas. Kadota Figs - Green Figs That Hide From Birds

The description they give sounds close. The only thing is that it starts making figs when it starts growing in the spring and it doesn't stop until cold weather. For Kadota it said 2 crops. On mine I never notice it stop making figs.

I looked at the plant closely again this morning and I noticed some gray areas on it. Seems like I remember a banana description that said something about gray, but I can't find it now. Anyone know of a variety that has gray? Does Goldfinger have some gray?
