Dwarf or Super Dwarf? - it finally is blooming

It's only taken three years in the ground and then potted for winter - but it's finally blooming.

So... Super Dwarf or Dwarf? I've been dying to know for years now.

Thanks guys,
John

I'm glad you asked bc I went out and measured it and my guess of 3' was wrong. The very top of that flower is exactly 2'. The folks I bought it from online said it was a SDC, and from the height, I think they were right.

John, check the color of the p-stem towards the top.

DC - Green with slight wax.

SDC - Reddish

Can't really rely on the leaf shape and height. Sometimes due to inhibiting factors, they can grow to smaller size.

I just wanted to ask you, whether you could upload some more pics and even from greater distance. I myself try SDCs and would like to see the final stage... :D

Congrats, nice pic of flower. I'd like to see one of the whole plant too. Very cool.

John, a beautiful picture, it would be desirable to look at all plant completely, whenever possible load some more photo.

Here's the full plant - I just put it back in the ground about two weeks ago. It was in the greenhouse all winter (usually I keep them in the garage). So that may have helped the bloom. It looks pretty rough since it was over wintered, but the second photo is what it looked like last year (or it's twin, I can't tell the two I have apart).

This last photo was taken May 10, 2007 - it's the 'baby' shot once I finally brought it out of my indoor plant room. I knew absolutely nothing about bananas back then.

I am thinking of leaving mine in the ground this year and just splitting off a few of the pups. They are so hard for me to keep looking nice over the winter (all the bananas were to be honest). Of course, I always say I'm gonna leave something out - and then last minute before the first frost I'm out the door with a shovel and several pots. LOL
