Pinwheel A couple of NOIDS

These were sent to me for ID, and I'm completely clueless. The fruit, apparently, did NOT come from the plant pictured. Please HELP!

The first one is in Guinea (Africa). The second, I have no clue; they were presumably purchased somewhere in the US.

In the first photo, there are a few different types and without more detailed photos and info its hard to say what they are, especially in Africa where there is a huge amount of diversity.

The second one is also hard to tell without seeing the shape of the whole fruit at least.

The asker from Africa was particularly interested in what the central plant with the red midribs was.

I'm just as clueless as you about the second one.
