Re: Checking on ID

Yea thats why posted the photos, wonder if Jarred sent wrong plants by mistake or we have a problem? Coz 2 of the 3 are doing that.

Re: Checking on ID

That's no Orinoco! Maybe he sent you some black balbisianas by mistake.

Re: Checking on ID

Could it also be Ele Ele? Not an Orinoco....

Lucky you, you get a banana that is much rarer than the orinoco.

That looks like a BB to me. Could be a Ele Ele too, looks like my BB.

Re: Checking on ID

Had wondered about both of those varieties as well.

Re: Checking on ID

Thats pretty crazy. Quite certain those were Orinoco that I sent you, I have never had a mixup and am extremely careful.
I did not have corms of BB to mail out back in November (mailed your plants Nov 20th) and I did not have Ele Ele corms to mail out either.
I sent you the Elephant Ears and the Ginger in one box and the corms in another, that I remember.
And all the corms I mailed out in that massive Orinoco sale I had were from Orinoco plants I had growing here that I needed to clear and make more room.
I didn't have Ele Ele pups nor Black Balbisiana (Black Thai) pups at that time.

Re: Checking on ID

Dibs on the first pup though.
If that plant sets fruit and its seedless (should be, considering), you have a real winner.
Seems something shocked them and they've morphed is my best guess and explanation.

Re: Checking on ID

D&T, How does the leaf color compare to the Orinoco's. If it's a BB the leaves should have a bluish tint to them and the base of the leaf should not follow the petioles but curve around and run into them on the sides (Indicitive of Balbisiana).

D & T, that fertilizer you are using ... it's uranium oxide?

It's Banana Twilight Zone!!!

Re: Checking on ID

I don't think there are any banana diseases that look like that either, so you might have a cool new type of naner on your hands.
