Default Can anyone translate this name?

I found this banana online today and was very interested in it but I have no idea what it is. I would like to find out so maybe I could order it from somewhere else. The last person who ordered a plant from them (on ebay)got it after 20 days I think, and it was dead. Can anyone translate the name, or does anyone know what type of banana it is?

Here is the link

1 Bulb of MUSA (AAA GROUP) KLUAI KHAI PRATABONG Banana Plant, ThailandPlant.com

Notice that beautiful orange fruit, I love it.

Not to bad mouth the company but.... I ordered a Kluay Hom Thong ( gros michel ) from them this summer and it arrived after 30 days and was mostly rotted when I got it. Needless to say it didn't make it and I spent a small fortune for the corm and shipping. One .org member from California told me he had recieved some plants quickly though. Maybe the west coast would get shipment quicker. I believe there was some trouble with that one as well. Some .org members have had luck with shipments from Thailand and I've recieved seeds just this year that were in great shape but to me it's a big gamble.

Kluai Khai means Egg Banana. But from the description, it seems to be in a different group from the banana Agristarts has listed as Glui Kai, aka Kluai Khai (AAB).The term Pratabong probably indicates it originates from Pratabong (referring to the Cambodian province of Battambang which was onced annexed by Thailand). Basically it means 'Egg Banana of Pratabong.' In Thailand, there's many variations of Kluai Nam Wa and Kluai Khai.

Anyways, if you live in Calif, I wouldn't suggest you order. The plants are sprayed for a Phyto and such. But the ag inspection office in Hawethorne, CA does not consider them clean and will 'toss' them. However if you live in a different state, plants from that seller will usually pass through the other ag inspection offices.

Just a quick feeback about my orders with thailand plant.

I ordered two 'nanas in two months and both have arrived within the extimated time of arrive he told me....
The Veinte Cohol was then stuck 3 weeks at custom's office but the seller can't be blamed for that.

Luckily both corms were healthy.
So far , Thailand plant , should be placed in the "good Seller" list in my experience.

Bye

Rick, please, put a link to the seller list thread in the European section, I will put him on, although he's not from Europe.
