Bought as an Icecream

First of all, sorry for my bad english.
Now to the interesting part.
I bought this fast growing banana (from 40 cm to 147 cm stem, 47 cm breadth of the stem 10 cm above ground, despite the ****ty weather this summer) as an Ice Cream pup last year an overwintered in the unheated wintergarden (40-50 F or 5-10 G).
Any idea what it might be? Its definitely no Ice Cream.

Looks like a D. Orinoco to me.. :^)

Ok, thx. Are you sure? I looked it up, but isnt it to much rose for a D. Orinoco

The rose could be due to growing conditions, probably nitrogen deficiency. Add some high nitrogen fertilizer and that, along with the light coloring on emerging leaves, should go away. My best guess is Namwah, since that's what Ice Creams floating around tend to be. It's definitely not the real thing, evidenced by the pink on the leaf margins and pseudostem. The real thing is supposedly completely green.

Here's my Ice Cream, which is probably a Namwah too for comparison.

My soil conditions arent the best ones, thats for sure (to much clay)
Lets see what happens, if its keeps growing that fast even with that bad weather we had all Summer, maybe im in for some homegrown bananas in the near future

They do, but they also have much more closed petiole canals.

I have to deal with clay soil too. Add lots of mulch and compost, LOTS of it.
