Blue Java Banana from Wellspring Gardens
Hello, I ordered a blue java banana and a dwarf nam wah from wellspring gardens, I have read a couple of posts on how Namwahs are being sold as blue java and am now paranoid as to whether or not I have what I ordered. If this isn’t a blue java is anyone on here growing and fruited true to type blue Java’s willing to sell me a pup?

Re: Blue Java Banana from Wellspring Gardens
I also ordered blue java from well spring gardens. cant remember now if they were listed at the time as blue java but I do know that the pots they came in were marked as ice creams.
turned out to be namwa. but I do not regret them. the namwa will grow to 9 ft. before blue java are 6. blue java some say are more cold hardy than namwa but I have yet to see it. so far my winters have knocked down both with the blue java going first. but sorry I do not have any blue java to sell at this time.

Re: Blue Java Banana from Wellspring Gardens
Thanks for the reply I am not disappointed after hearing that the namwahs taste better. If you do have a pup you want to sell of the blue java in future please keep me in mind I wouldn’t mind growing a true to type one and see how it turns out. Thank you!

Re: Blue Java Banana from Wellspring Gardens
I don't think anybody has received a true Blue Java from the more common internet suppliers but there are members on this site that can provide them. You will find out for sure in a year and half.
I got the ole Ice Cream-Tall Namwa bait and switch too and was bummed at first but my tall namwas grow and fruit reliably. Like Beam said, they are very fast growers with big bunches and are cold hardy. I acquired a Blue Java from PRGiants earlier this year. I haven't fruited it yet so its not proved and no pups at this time. Good luck! |
