Question Basjoo with red veins?

Hello
I am new to this forum. I just received a banana plant today. It is supposed to be a Basjoo. But the leaves are broad and they have a red vein in the center and red on the edges of the leaves. It came from South Carolina. So it is cold hardy.

Any help would be appreciated!

I do not know how to add photos to this forum yet!

It's common for young basjoos to have red on the midrib and pronounced veins.

How "wide" is a "wide leaf"?

Pictures would be helpful.

It is not a "spear" leaf. more like a "paddle" leaf. and a thick trunk

What you're describing sounds a bit like an Ensete to me.
