I may be wrong but these don't look Basjoo to me. This could be one of the reasons people don't know what kind of plant they have.

I agree ... I don't grow Basjoo, but none of the references that I see show the plant as having wine stains. Those are likely DC or SDC.

My first thought was Dwarf Cavendish, then I looked at the tag and thought they tagged it wrong. People will buy these and wonder why it didn't come back, it said it was hardy.

I impulse-bought a couple of these without researching if basjoos can actually look like that was gonna return them but the wife loves them... guess we are growing DCs now. This may be the beginning of a problem
