Anyone know.. this is banana or plantain? or just a baby banana?
What kind?
Will it be ripe before freezing cold? Right now, we got lowest about 40-50F in this October. Any suggestion to make it ripe faster?
Thank you very much.

banana.. If I were you I'd throw a blanket over your plant when you due for a frost.. and maybe a tarp over the top of the blanket.. that should give you more time before you have to harvest. :^)

Once you see yellow or your going to get a freeze cut the whole bunch and keep it in a cool dark area so they don't ripen as fast. You could cut a hand or 2 for in the kitchen and eat them once they are ripe. Then you won't have to eat them all at once. :^)

Looks like Orinoco. It's a dual purpose cooking and eating banana, but not a true plantain.
