Default banana or plantain?

I helped myself to a pup from this plant growing on a vacant lot, and any help in identifying the type is very welcome. The pictures are not as clear as I would like as the plant was tall and the pics taken upwards against a bright sky - sorry!

I suspect it is a plantain as the fruits are not uniform along their length, but have a step down towards the tip. Any ideas?
