Hi all,

New member here - nice to meet you!

I was hoping some of you might share your learned opinions on what kind of banana I have.

My moving-away neighbors gave me a mom plant with two pups in a large pot a couple years ago - no idea where they got her. The mom put on a single hand that did not mature and then died. Last summer I planted the two pups along a tall west wall. The first one now has bananas (eight hands and still counting) and the second is following suit.

The wall is 11 1/2 feet tall, so the plants must be 16-18 feet. I live very near the beach in Southern Calif. (zone 10b).

I would like to know as much as I can on how to tend them, and what to expect with maturation time, etc. Identification is the first step, I'm guessing.

Thanks in advance!
