Anyone know what variety of banana this could be? I love how small the plant is and have been hoping to get my hands on such a small (but fruiting) variety for many years!

They produce about 60 lb. bunches on my farm, (photo below) but I don't like the finger size of the fruit and prefer a taller Dwarf Cavendish (about 2.5' taller) that produces huge fingers with 100 lb. bunches (photo below). There are many different Dwarf Cavendish varieties so it's worth learning which best fits your needs before buying a plant.

Thanks! I've never heard of a variety called 'Short Dwarf Cavendish' and can't seem to find it online. I'd really love to buy one if anyone knows where to get it.
I've grown the regular dwarf cavendish you mentioned and honestly I just don't want one even that big. |

I grow many Pisang Awak, dwarfs and non-dwarfs. The non-dwarfs range from 7-8' as a low to well over 20', now most members here will call them all Namwa or regular Namwa even though they all can't be the same variety, but they are in the same subgroup. The nearby US banana research station grows non-Dwarf or often called tall Pisang Awak varieties that are substantially shorter than some of the Dwarf Pisang Awak varieties I grow, so don't confuse dwarf with height. That's why adding if it's a "short" or "tall" helps in a description. Hope that helps ![]()

Thanks, sounds like quite a messy situation.
Anyway, I'd really love a small banana this size, with tasty fruit. I don't need them to be huge bananas or huge bunches, just good to eat on little plants. |
