Southern NJ banana grower
Hi all. I live in Southern NJ between Philadelphia & Atlantic City. This is my first year with bananas and they are all growing like weeds. I have many different elephant ears as well as bananas. Always open for trades just let me know what you want.

Re: Southern NJ banana grower
Welcome from sunny Florida. I too have just got rebitten by the banana bug. We grew bananas in Key West when we lived there but none since we moved up north. Make a list and some pics so we know what you have. Everyone likes to trade. I'm into bananas and passion flower vines along with a few EE's also. Hope to get some banana fruit next year and plan on increasing the plantation. Should get some passion flower fruit this year as they grow like weeds also. Have to constantly watch out for caterpillars since they will destroy a plant over night. Good luck.

Greetings from Hawaii. :08:
I didn't know you could grow 'nanners in NJ. It will be interesting to follow your progress. I assume you will be getting some of the cold-tolerant types :coldbanana: to improve your chance of success. Good luck, I wish you good fortune! :lurk: |

Marc,
How far are you from Burlington County, NJ? I have Banana trees as well and also have 2- 14' palm trees. I actually started getting bananas about 2 weeks ago.. Adam |

I live in Atco. Started breaking down for winter storage. I'd love to see what you have. Maybe we can work some trades.

You are about 35-40 minutes away.
I have the musa basjoo's, Ice cream's (just got so will not have pups till next season), California Gold. I have 2 gold's but I am keeping them indoors just in case my large one doesn't make it outside. I lost one last year and really want one to fruit... Here is a pic of some including the one that is starting to fruit.. They are 13' to 18' tall and it is only the second season.. They are trimmed as I am getting a head start for the winter.. I removed about 80 leaves already.. Adam |
