Smith Mountain Lake
Have an indoor Arboretum that is being built in the interior of our house. Was originally going to have Citrus tree only; but bought an Ice Cream Banana tree last spring that was 10" tall and it is standing at 12' tall now. I am hooked, good tree and hope to see some bananas this summer. Now want to look into some bigger trees 20+' to add to the room.

Welcome to the org! Sounds like you have a realy cool growing area. Could you share some picts? I do not think you will have any trouble finding a plant that gets to 20+. Just put a post in the wanted section. I hope you feel at home here.

Since you are indoors you will get fruit, so flavor may be a part of your variety choice. My favorite is "Brazilian", which we call "apple" bananas in Hawaii.

Welcome to the Jungle!!!
![]() Have fun here. As a great understory plant do consider treeferns. They are easy to grow and can take some abuse. This link is a good read..Cold-hardy Tree Ferns Page. Last edited by cincinnana : 12-12-2015 at 09:00 AM. |

Are you doing anything to protect your Java? Or just leaving it outdoors as is. Any insights as to what I should do with mine would be helpful, this is my first season with one outdoors and it's got such great growth progression on it. I would hate to see it die off or lose the progress it's made since I transplanted it outdoors in spring. |
