Hey all! My name is Shawn Amburgey and I live in St. Petersburg FL. I moved here with my partner about 5 years ago and love it. My love affair will all things tropical plant wise started when I was a kid in Kentucky. I was lucky enough to have an uncle that collected palm trees. So I caught the plant collecting bug early. I currently grow a little bit of everything including orchids, heliconias, gingers, and of course some bananas. Ill start posting pictures of my yard soon. I am alway looking to trade, buy, or sell plants. Once I get my member page up and running Ill try and post the plants I do have. Thanks for looking.

Welcome Shawn, I'm not too far from you. I also am from Kentucky, but I've been down here in the tropics for a long time. My 13 acre estate is located South of Plant City, way back in the woods. I grow a little of everything and lately been getting into more. I grow cycads mainly and have a web site.....chumleycycads.c......I spent a lot of years collecting plants and exploring in Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Panama. During the past 10 years, I have hybridized many Cycads and Philodendrons, ect. I love to trade and if you visit, please bring a SUV or a pick up truck. E mail for directions or phone. Nice to meet you Shawn and I wish you well. Robert Chumley

Thanks for your reply Shawn. I used to lived in Louisville also....on Michigan Drive, and I went to Shawnee High School with a kid named ("Cassius Clay")who always beat me in rhe high jump, but loved boxing. A year later I moved to Lexington and started working with a few old cooks who were trying to perfect a recipe with 11 herbs & spices and cooking chicken in a pressure cooker for an angry old man (Harland Sanders),who had been appointed a Ky. Colonel and lived in Corbin, Ky. As soon as we were sucessful and he had what he wanted.......he fired all of us. I still like the chicken and eat at KFC every now and then. And many years later, Ky. Governor Bob Babbage appointed me a KY. Colonel. But, much like yourself, I would not care to go back to Ky. I love my tropical plants too much. I would look forward if you guys could visit and tour my Estate. Robert Chumley
