Default Platanos and now Bananas run through my veins!

My family is from the Dominican Republic side of the Caribbean island of Hispaniola. I lived there off and on for up to 6 months at a time until about 2000. Since then I have lived in NYC and now Mountain View, California.
I still miss home. The Dominican Republic that is and what gives me most solace is growing and eating plantains, bananas and many other Tropical fruits and vegetables usually only found in the Caribbean islands.

Here to learn and share knowledge so feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns because I will be doing the same!

Cordially,
José Alberto Peña

Have you tried growing plantains and bananas that far north?
